Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society Sloop News

March 2008

February and early March have brought about big changes for Endeavour II! In mid-February Chuck Handy and Pete Washburn brought their enthusiasm and boatbuilding skills to the boatshed. In late February, the crew pulled the boat out from under the boatshed (and long, hot days in the sun didn’t stop progress). A cradle was built for Endeavour II and preparations were made as the schedule rollover date loomed near.

On March 1st, a crowd of residents, visitors and a few reporters gathered in the boatshed behind Foxy’s. After a few hours, the boat was slowly jacked up and then a team used old fashioned man power to pull over the hull, which rolled over perfectly onto the cradle the team had constructed.

A big thanks to Jim Kelley with onlinebvi.net for filming the event. If you can’t view the video at www.onlinebvi.net Jim has also posted the video at www.islandjim.com/endeavour.htm
