Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society Sloop News

December 2007

The boatshed behind Foxy’s continues to buzz with activity. In late November, Dwayne and Jevon were joined by Caribbean artist and boat-builder, Bruce Smith. Together with his wife, Jan, the couple are cruising around the Caribbean on s/v Woodwind, a boat which he built at his home in the Pacific Northwest. Bruce worked with Dwayne and Jevon for about 2 weeks, getting them started on the spars, which are being constructed from Douglas Fir.

During the Christmas vacation, Dwayne and Jevon were joined by Deshawn Donovan, Violet “Chicken” Callwood, and Bethany Steele.

Together the team worked to finish sheathing the hull.

Also, a nice article appeared in the BVI Standpoint, featuring Dwayne. The article can be found on-line at http://www.vistandpoint.com/content/view/525/41/

All the best to you out there in cyber space, from all of us here at the JVDPS.
